After seeing how much of a noob I am when it comes to builds (see Sgt Steele's build thread), I decided that I should post a request for help.

I figured instead of marking down slotting and sets and all, I'd simply lay out the order in which I'd like my powers. (See below.)

When it comes to the order of things my reasoning is this: I want to retain my traveling power no matter how far down I exemp. (I've tried to do otherwise, and it flat out sucks for TF's.)

Also I've swapped out swoop with beheader (from my current build) in order to be able to have 2 attack powers for all exemping, instead of 1, which is my current situation.

Further, I've postponed most of my attack powers to late in my build. I want my tanker to be the best tanker (in terms of soak) that she can be at whatever level. I've added the fitness pool before the fighting pool, to be able to support all the toggles. This might not be necessary if I get my miracle and numina etc.. so you might wanna change the order of those two pools.

I've left the level 47 power choice open. I'm not really sure what I want in there. Notice that I don't have Unstoppable. Generally I don't like god-modes very much. I play under the rule that if your team can't support you unless you're in godmode.. then your team sucks. I realize that might be a bit childish, and hence I am considering taking it at level 47. The options I'm considering is Stealth, Maneuvers, Block of Ice and Unstoppable. Tell me which one you would want to take, and why please.

So, there it is.. what remains is how to slot to get as much of everything, as I can. My focus is soak. I want Gladiana to be the best soaker she can be. Next comes damage actually. I want to be able to dish it out a bit. (Cause that's fun, and battleaxe is actually quite good at it.) Finally, I've never used any taunt-ehancers. Yet I've sometimes found myself wanting it. So it would be good to have some added ability to taunt (in terms of faster recharge of taunt, and more effective taunts) but don't add too much of this. Especially not at the cost of damage.

A word about cost: I wouldn't mind a build including purples. Yet, if you do propose such a build, please also make a note of what I could place instead of the purples while I gather inf for the purples.

Quite anxious to see what you're going to place in my resistance-powers. Cause I can't help but feel that most of the sets that go into them are crap. But I guess some of them are good for toxic and psi resistance/defense at least.

Looking forward to see what somebody can cook up for me. Thank you in advance for helping me out.

I should probably specify what I mean by soak. By soak I mean the tankers ability to stand there and take it. So it would include things like..
- resistance (reduction of damage getting through my defense),
- defense (to stop damage from actually getting through at all),
- health pool (to allow me to live even with slow healers, as well as increase the effect of high regen rates) and finally
- high regen (for keeping on my feet even when no healer is present).

So.. I need a build which capitalises on these four things. And secondarily should give me good damage as well as some increase to taunting powers.

perhaps you want us to trow in the gold plated rocketlauncher and the pin up fangirl aswel ? :p

the coh system does not realy alow you to diversify your focus without bringing something else down.
my build for sejira is basicly regen>resistance>defence>damage

with invincible you will prolly wana capatilise on defence and resistance and then decide weather damage or regen gets therd place

Yep. That's exactly what I'm doing. Highest priority is soak, regen included. Then comes damage.

In your notation: resistance>defense>regen>damage>taunt
Or in extended notation: resistance&defense>regen&hp>damage>taunt

Gladiana used to be damage over defense. Currently I've adopted the above priorities. Which is working out well for me. And now I want to update my build for helping me exemp well and inserting more optimal sets than I currently have.

Hey Glad,

Here's what I came up with for your build.

Let's start with your priorities:

Soak: Perma HP cap. Instead of your suggestions for lvl47 power I went with Hasten, and with the necessary time reduc set bonus and IOs your Dull Pain is now perma (unless you're fighting against mobs with slow). Plus, you have decent regen & recovery rates which you'll see below.

As for resist powers, I was always upset about set bonus gained from resist powers, that's why I never go for Set IOs for them. I slotted 3x resist IOs on passive powers and 3x resist/end reduc hamios on toggles, giving you max. resist and end reduc values.

Your defence powers are maxed at defence buff with low endurance, their set bonus providing you extra recovery and run speed (Btw, you got a good mobility value: 40% run speed & 14% jump speed, combined with CJ you'll have no mobility problems).

Damage: All attack powers at ED limit and you have 16.5% damage buff as set bonus.

Taunt: 5 slots with Perfect Zinger Set.

I didn't use purple sets as I see them unnecessary for PvE, with the money spent to them (say 20 IO x 20m inf each, making 400m, you can fully IO slot another toon).

And I used the following global and unique IOs on the build: 3x Luck of the Gambler (Improved Recharge), 3x Gift of the Ancients (Run Speed), Steadfast Protection (Resist/Def), Numina (Regen & Recovery), Miracle (Recovery), Regenerative Tissue (Regen), Perfect Zinger (Chance to Psy Damage), Unbounded Leap (Stealth), Performance Shifter (Chance to +End) and Gaussian's Synchronised Fire Control (Chance to Build Up).

I hope you like it:

NOTE:

1) I change the order of last 4 powers to accommodate slots. I didn't wanna change the order further but I'd personnaly take Hasten (If you take it) earlier.

2) My alternatives for Hasten: Conserve Power to eliminate End problems completely or a ranged attack from any epic pool to use Decimation (Chance to Build Up) IO.

Great big thanks for your help Blastor.

The reordering is no trouble at all. Taking hasten earlier would mean moving the fitness pool to the bottom. Otherwise there wouldn't be enough slots for my last powers. I could do that, and then do more damage when exemped down. but I wouldn't be as good a tank when exemped then. I'm open to the idea however. But I'll need some convincing. Why must I absolutely have hasten earlier?

Tried Conserve Power in my dps-build. I didn't like it. I doubt there'll be any end trouble with this build anyhow. I mean.. I don't have end trouble as is.. and the drain should be higher right now.. and I don't have any big bonus from miracle or numina atm. Yes.. Block of Ice is tempting. Yet, I love the idea of perma dull pain, that I'll definately go with hasten. I've missed it for my attack-chains as well.

So.. the question as regards powerchoices and order of powers, the only real question afaik is wether to move hasten up and fighting down, or keep as is. Happy to take suggestions and persuasion.

So.. after discussing the build with Blastor in by way of chat I've altered the build somewhat. The main differences in terms of set bonuses can be summarised as follows (Build follows in the next post):

My bonuses minus Blastor bonuses:
-3.5% damage
+.95% def smash/leth
+5.63% def psi
-some positional def (inconsequential due to only highest of typed and positional applies, and typed is allways higher in my build anyhow)
+9% acc
-45 health (4%) (inconsequential, at max hp with perma dull pain anyhow)
+3% Recov
+32% Regen
-5% Res fire
-approx 10% res fire&neg
+3% res psi
+7.5% run spd

The important thing here is the psi def, which was/is the builds greatest weakness. Also the large increase in regen should be very helpfull. The biggest drawback is the loss of 10% resistance to fire and neg. They're still good (31% and 37%), and added to the very nice defense it should be sufficient for me not to worry about it.

Further differences include...
¤ Pounding Slugfest added to gash and beheadder, adding chance of disorient.
¤ Chance of Build-up moved from build up to invincibility for more frequent dierolls.
¤ To-hit increase added to invincibility.
¤ Fewer ribosome exposure. Exchanged for Impervium Armor for added recov and def vs psi. Led to slight loss of res vs lethal & smashing. 2.5% down from 90% (max) so I'm not worried.
¤ No slotting of boxing/kick. Too low damage, requires me to redraw my axe, which is slow and really needed those slots elsewhere.

To sum up the soaking ability of the build:
¤ Health: 3200 (with perma Dull Pain)
¤ Defense: 28% (15% vs psi)
¤ Resistance smash, lethal: 87.5%
¤ Resistance avg for en, neg, fi, co: 30%
¤ Regen: 294% (40 hp/sec, 0-100% in 82 secs)

If I dare say so myself.. that's bloody amazing. Add to that the fact that mids is reporting avg damage for beheader and cleave as 318 and 452 pts respectively, and I'm starting to appreciate the potential of this build.. =) Looking forward to somebody pointing out further weaknesses and improvements however.

I like the build above Glad, you might have less damage set bonus compared with mine but each of your attacks have better damage value individually. The only thing to keep in mind is that your toggles require more endurance now, but I don't think it's gonna be a problem since you say you don't have any end problems even with your current build.

As for Hasten, I suggested you to get it earlier only to profit from perma Dull Pain when exemp'd because according to your last proposal you'll only have it at level 50.

Thanks for the kind words blast.

I was considering my build for a few more hours. And I noticed a few things.

1) Your comment about hasten is true. Should try to push it up.
2) Do I really need tough and weave that early? I should be tanking nicely when exemped without them. I probably only need them when doing tough AV's and mothership raid and future level 50+ content. Hence, how about pushing fighting pool to the bottom, and benefit from more attacks when doing ouroboros and exemping TF'es?
3) Too low psi soak.
4) Since DP is used for boosting health pool, rather than as a heal, it doesn't really need all that +heal. I'll be at the max hp-cap with far less.

By doing what I propose in 1 and 2 it is possible to fully 6-slot scirocco in whirling axe, cleave and pendulum. That gives faster recharge rates for those powers, as well as add 9.39% bonus to psi def, which would fix point nr 3.
Invincibility has a lot of potential. It taunts, it gives defense, it gives to-hit buff. And it can be slotted with sets from those categories. It would be a waste not to fully slot it. Fixing nr 4 by moving a slot from dull pain, to invincibility. Also swapping miracle and numina for added regen.

Further I've checked the enddrain of this build vs my current build. This build has a higher drain by far. Yet it also has a far greater recovery. In short, it has a faster net recovery than my current build. Especially with a few miror enhs swaps I've made.

The resulting updates are..
-9% acc
-3% health
+2% recov
-6% regen
+faster recharge on 3 attack powers
-lower to-hit bonus from build-up
-20% perception
¤ Defense: +9.4% psi, smash&leth -1.2%, -0.3% otherwise
¤ Resistance: slight increase across the board.
¤ Hasten active from level 30.
¤ More attacks earlier
¤ Fighting pool active only on highest levels.

The other solution I was contemplating was keeping fitness early, but placing slots from build up into boxing (with 4x pounding slugfest, for added disorient). But drawing the axe every time I box will be a pain, the damage didn't hit ED, and it felt like a better idea to get my psi def up.

So, I won't post the build, only the data-chunk for importing it into mids. Please have a look and tell me what you think.

Hey Glad,

I have to say the build gets better with every new proposal you come up with.

I see now that you're concerned with your chance against psi attacks and tried to overcome this problem with psi defence in the last proposed build. I would personnaly resolve this issue not with psi defence but psi resist if I were you by selecting one or several options below:

1) Impervium Armour Set (Resistance): This set is the answer to your problem actually. It offers both psi defence (3 slots) and psi resist (6 slots) as set bonus. On top of that the set has Impervium Armour Psionic Resistance global IO. 6 slot 5 resistance powers and you'll have around 9.5% defence and 30.5% resistance to Psi attacks. This set also offers both End and Recovery set bonus, what would you want more? :)...

2) Crushing Impact Set (Melee Attack): 6 slots offer you resist to psi, and you already have 2 melee attacks with 6 slots.

3) Drop Weave (I'll talk about this more below) and get a ranged attack, use 6 Decimation IOs offering both Chance to Build Up and Resist to Psi.

Weave: I ask this as someone who has zero experience on Tanker AT, is Defence that necessary, especially for an Invul tanker? Use the Invincibility Slider in Mids Planner, when there are 10 mobs in melee distance your defence to all attacks, except psi, comes up to 41% without Weave. This is a very good defence value, almost as good as SR scrapper. And Gladiana will be a PvE team tanker, meaning she'll be herding all the time.

As I said earlier, the above build is already good, I'm only offering alternatives and suggestions for you to consider.

I would say defence is needed for a tanker tho the inclusion of weave is probably taking things to the extreme (tho I'm taking it on my invul)

I would say don't underestimate dull pain as a self heal being able to recover a chunk of health quickly is vital for those AV fights where they have massively heavy attacks it wont matter a jot if you can fully Regen your health in 60 seconds if infernal (well his patronin counterpart) can reduce you to the red in 2 hits

I would question the logic of increasing both Regen and psy soak Regen is effectively a form of universal resistance (some very smart people a while back worked out the Regen to resistance ration a while back but i can find it)
