So….as someone locked the Avatar thread I will have to start another one.

I just want to complain and where better than here…

The Avatar DVD is being released at the end of April, but it’s not a directors cut, nor does it include any extras. Which means I will have to wait even longer to see the film again….grrrrrrr

This kind of rip-off seems to be what the studios do these days - for Watchmen it was just the same, first they release the regular edition, then a couple of months later the special edition and finally (around Christmas) the extended edition.

This is why I bought this film only last Saturday, unwilling to p(l)ay this game. But I assume that enough people will fall for it, so I think it will continue to be the regular way they release films.

Come to think about this, this goes wayyy back - I recall them doing the same with LotR.

Yup we can thank the raving fan boys/girls me thinks I mean you can easily milk Avatar for a good 6 or 7 versions Cinema release DVD, cinema release blue ray, special edition DVD, special edition BR, extended edition DVD, Extended edition BR and that's before you get started on a directors cut which I'm pretty sure there will be fill in some of those plot holes and maybe lay some ground work for the second film.

And the sad thing is people will go out and buy them its the same with new moon you can get a Jake cover, a Edward cover and a normal cover and people will buy all 3 (hell HMV even have all 3 grouped together as a suggested purchase )

Tho i do like how they've take to releasing a bog standard movie only release (if only the would do it along side the special edition) as very often i don't want all the extras i don't want to know that the director filmed that scene that way because he thought the light highlighted the inner beauty of the monster as it gutted red shirt number 2 or that they included that shot because it made the female characters boobs look particularly perky (normally right before she dies)
